If it's a rainy day, you've nothing on, and you don't want to do must-do stuff, then my 3rd star is because it's still a biggish budget movie with Emily Blunt & Cillian Murphy, with 91% Rotten Tomatoes Rating (🤨🤔) so a watchable way to fill the afternoon! Opening first few mins is the best part! Why the big deal with the barefoot walking with bleeding feet over 21st century western urban tarmac, dirt, rusting metal, rock, sharp sticks, litter., when others in the movie wear shoes? How do the abbots not sneeze, cough anytime? I'm feeling this is a way over-invested review🤣 but the plot is sooo.

The couple of big reveals, one partly shown in Part 1, about the alien's weak spots would've been worked out pretty instantly at the start by governments, armies, scientists or anyone with a lot of commonsense 😂. Part 2 feels like a lazy follow up to the far more watchable part 1. Both main ones with the big sacrifice for the Abbotts were black with 'cookie cutter' support roles and the 2nd character's characterisation reinforced by having to say their lines in a pronounced quasi patois-style accent which feels probably like an unintentional but lazy (& I'm guessing white-directed) poor judgement trope. The supporting characters feel solely like cookie cutter plot devices, there only to sacrifice themselves to save the Abbott family as and when necessary. Characters are 2 dimensional, with totally cliched character parts.
